Being a dyslexic child, I always used to feel ashamed with my academic failures but today when I flip pages of my past I realize I have learnt far more because of my uncountable failures.
Edison after failing to generate electricity in an electric bulb for about 1000 times was not disappointed. As per his optimism, he had discovered 1000 way how electricity is not generated in an electric bulb.
Every failure teaches some good lessons which one remembers his/her entire life. There’s no harm in falling down but one should gear up again with the same zeal and work toward one’s goal.
Let us take failure as a spring no matter how hard it’s been pushed one should bounce back and climb the tower of success.
Every failure is a stepping stone towards a successful life. We are human beings who definitely commit mistakes/errors but also learn from them.
Let me illustrate a story to prove that failure does not mean end of victory but they help you in achieving higher targets.
There was a man who, at the age of 24, started a business which soon failed. He then ran for state legislature but was soundly defeated. He managed a job only to lose it. He tried to get into a law school but his application was rejected. He went on to borrow money from a friend to start another business. Within a year he was bankrupt. A year later he had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months. He ran for US congress, to his dismay and lost again. He ran for congress again. This time he won but only served one term because he lost his bid to be re-elected. He sought his party’s nomination for vice president but lost. In fact, hardly anyone voted for him. He ran for US senate twice and lost both times.
In 1861, he was elected President of United States and today he is regarded as one of the greatest presidents in History. This man was none other than Abraham Lincoln
The real essence of victory lies in never giving up. Successful people constantly strive to reach their aims and aspirations in life. Failures does not keep great people away from achieving greater heights. Failure is never final so one should never stop trying after a few unsuccessful attempts. We often tend to give up after multiple attempts but what we don’t realize is that if we continue to pursue our goals with the same determination then we will eventually achieve our goals.
I still recollect the bedtime childhood story of king Bruce and the mighty spider where the spider finally reached his web after ‘n’ number of unsuccessful attempts/trials. I feel one quality which helps us in overcoming failure is resilience. According to dictionary, this is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. It is one common trait which is found in successful people.
Let us now follow some tips which will help us in overcoming failure and fighting paradoxical situations in life:
Never regret and always feel positive that you spent your time wisely
“A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” – George Bernard Shaw.
Even if the hard work which you had put in had no results, do not remorse about that fact. This failure was worth working for as doing something is more valuable than doing nothing. Every failed attempt gives a valuable life experience
Keep your head high with confidence
Never undermine yourself even if you didn’t succeed. Self-pity is fatal in case of failures. Your confidence and self-belief should remain intact irrespective of failures.
Have a solid vision and reflect on your actions
You should always have your long term goal in mind. This will let you bounce back despite any adversity. Reflecting your actions will guide you and you will understand where you went wrong.
Failure might be disheartening but it is never temporary. One should take it with a pinch of salt and be prepared to deal with it. Once you learn this art, you will always strive for excellence and soar high in life.
